Dewalt 12 Volt Batteries

What brand power tools should i buy? Need somekind of combo kit dont really want to spend a lot.?
I need a good set of tools for some things around the house, possible renovation later, and some sidework. I was thinking about buying a 24 volt firestorm kit from lowes (2 batteries, charger, hammer drill, circ. saw, recip. saw, and a jig saw) for $220. Ive been told that some of the older firestorm tools are junk, havent heard anything bad about the new ones and my experience with a little 12 volt drill wasnt bad. Comes with a 2 year warrantee and lowes 4 year extended protection for $60 which offers 100% parts and labor coverage for mechanical and electrical failures. Should i buy the firestorm kit? $280 for good power tools for 6 years sounds ok to me or should i just cough up 300 more and get dewalt tools?
I use Ryobi, not expensive and not the cheap stuff either, have the same and use my cordless drill, saw, sander after 7 years, replaced the batteries last week. For power tools i still use Ryobi except a Makita skill saw and Dewalt miter saw.
